Warner Brothers Studio

It is amazing to think that some of the Looney Tune cartoons that still create sidesplitting laughs today were made over 70 years ago! In 1930 Leon Schlesinger hired the first of many Disney animators to help create small, animated shorts that were distributed to theaters by the Warner Brothers. This studio grew quickly and, what we now consider vintage Warner Brothers animation art includes original production cels and drawings from the studio’s golden age, 1935-1964. Friz Freleng, Tex Avery, Chuck Jones, Bob Clampett and many other animators came on board during these early years. Their combined talents created some of the most beloved characters of our times; Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Yosemite Sam, Elmer Fudd, Sylvester and Tweety, Wile E. Coyote and Roadrunner, Marvin Martian and Michigan J. Frog. The Warner Brothers animation studio closed in 1964 and, although animation was made under the Warner Brothers name at off-site locations, there was not another animated film made on the studio lot until 1987. Much of the Warner Brothers animation cels and drawings were purposely destroyed when the studio closed since they presented a fire-hazard if stored. This has added to the rarity and collectability of this artwork.
