Television! It has had a profound effect on our lives in so many ways, and animation is no exception. In 1957, MGM closed their animation department and two of the leading animators there, William Hanna and Joseph Barbera started their own animation studio. Hanna-Barbera was the first animation studio dedicated exclusively to making cartoons for television. During the 1970’s the studio became the leader in television animation with shows like Yogi Bear,Scooby Doo, The Flintstones and The Jetsons. Animation art from this period including original cels and drawings are highly prized by collectors who grew up with these characters on Saturday mornings or weekday afternoons. Vintage Hanna-Barbera animation cels from the 1960’s can be virtually impossible to come by.
