Dennis Revitzky was born in Titusville, Pennsylvania, in 1947, and received a Bachelors degree in art education from Gannon and Mercyhurst Colleges in Erie, Pennsylvania in 1969. He did graduate work in fine arts at SUNY Brockport from 1971-1976 where he studied with Jack Wolsky and Robert Marx.
Revitzky's unique mixed media canvases bring together paint, fabrics, matboard, paint, modeling paste & found objects. He has been called an Innovative Traditionalist, as his subject matter is primarily the landscape. One reviewer commented, "... Revitzky's richly constructed layering brings together the real, the surreal, the mystical and the powerful."
Revitzky's linocut prints are original, hand-pulled prints made in very small editions. Sometimes the linoleum block is combined with other wood blocks or stencils. The art of Dennis Revitzky has been included in over ninety regional and national juried exhibitions since 1980.
