Johann Christoph Weigel

This is one of the most exciting maps of America for its beautiful narrative cartouches (two) and glorious hand coloring. Majestic Indians are depicted with exotic creatures. The two large decorative cartouches are designed to encourage German emigration. This map provides a reasonable proportionate image of an expansive land and the borders are well distinguished by color. This is a classically handsome map in very good condition with a small repair in the left at the longitudal line.
