Gallery C is proud to offer a selection of rare, historical maps of North Carolina, the Southeast and the Americas from the 1600's to the 1800's. Original antique maps illustrate and help bring history to life as can be seen in in the examples below. Early European cartographers such as Jansson, Albrizzi, Cassini and Bowen each have documented the territory differently reflecting the changing national interests as well as improved understanding of the geography of the Southeast coastline. Old maps of the Civil War era show changes in the counties of North Carolina as well as the troop movements of the Union and Confederate armies. Now highly collectable, maps of past centuries were first and foremost tools of exploration and they shed immense light on the societies that created them. Enjoy these offerings in our online map gallery and please contact us at the numbers above should you have any questions at all.
Gallery C is a longstanding member of the Philip Lee Phillips Society, a group of the Geography and Map Division of the Library of Congress. Gallery C also holds a longstanding membership with the William P. Cumming Map Society.
