These original animation cels and drawings are fast becoming antiques as the labor-intensive hand processes used to make them have been discarded for computer technology. Each piece of production Animation fine art seen in our online animation art gallery was used in the making of an animated movie, cartoon, television program or advertisement.

What is now a collectible work of Animation art was once simply a frame in a series of frames, sometime as many a 27 per second, that, when filmed in sequence, gave life to characters like Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny, Fred Flintstone and the Pink Panther to name but a few. Each frame was first hand-drawn on paper and then hand-painted onto cellulose or clear acetate by a team of dedicated and talented artists. The resulting images were then filmed, one frame at a time against hand-painted background imagery. This artwork was originally seen as little more than a byproduct of the final movie and much vintage animation art was lost or destroyed many years ago. Thus, original production animation art is very rare and highly prized today.
