Cynthia Knapp

As a contemporary Southern artist, Cynthia Knapp has achieved a reputation as a manipulator of artist elements. For the Atlanta-based Knapp, art is always an experiment in opposing forces, a synergistic interplay of marks and motions that result in fantastic schemes of color in her mixed media works and sculpture.

Her mother’s own career as an artist influenced Knapp to pursue a bachelor of fine arts degree from York University in Toronto in 1974. After graduation, Knapp moved to coastal South Carolina, where she pursued an artistic career full time. Since 1975, Knapp’s work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions in North and South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Colorado, as well as others. Knapp’s work is in the collections of the Atlanta Merchandise Mart, Coca Cola, IBM, Citibank, WakeMed, Atlanta-Hartsfield Airport, as well as a number of other businesses throughout the United States.
